Programme:

Our programme and environment are designed to develop the whole child; physical, intellectual, emotional and social. It is designed to give children the opportunity to explore and experiment with different materials and activities.

Our teachers plan weekly programmes in which all children are involved. Language, math, and reading skills are incorporated into the programme. Photos are taken to document children’s learning and although these remain the property of the centre, you will receive copies in your child’s portfolio. They may also be used for promotional material.

Teachers:

The correct teacher/child ratio will be maintained at all times in order to provide quality education. We support early childhood teacher training organisations and often have visiting students.

SETTLING IN

A visit beforehand will help your child become accustomed to new surroundings and people as settling may take time. Teachers will be available to discuss your needs and those of your child. Communication between parent and teachers is important in establishing good relationships and trust, to avoid any "communication problems". Please note children may not be enrolled at another early childhood centre for the same hours of attendance.

Please keep us up to date about:

  • Any upsets and happenings that might affect your child.
  • Any health / behaviour / eating problems.
  • Emergency contacts. These are essential as unforeseen circumstances do arise. Parents/guardians will always be contacted first.

HEALTH AND MEDICINE

We are unable to care for sick children and any illness may affect other users of the centre. In particular, if your child is displaying any of the symptoms listed below, we ask you as parents not to bring your child to the centre:

  • Vomiting within 12 hours of attending childcare.
  • Diarrhoea within 12 hours of attending childcare.
  • Fever or temperature.
  • Conjunctivitis or discharge from eyes.
  • Discharge from the ears.
  • Earache.
  • Spots/open sores until cleared by a doctor or contagious period has expired.

If your child requires medication whilst in our care, you are required to sign the medicines book. All medicines must be clearly named, labelled, and handed to a staff member. Please do not leave medicine in your child's bag

An Immunisation Register is kept at the centre; please update this each time your child has their immunisations.
Please contact us before 8.30am if your child is unable to attend.

DELIVERING YOUR CHILD TO THE CENTRE

It is a Ministry of Education requirement to sign your child in and out each day.

MEALS

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided, and drinks are available at all times. Menus will also be displayed.. Parents are to provide formula made up in named bottles.
Please let us know if your child is allergic to any food or products.

CLOTHING

Aprons are provided for messy activities and water play but children will often get dirty during play so please use practical clothing that is marked with your child’s name. .
