Programme:

Our programme and environment is designed to develop the whole child; physical, intellectual, emotional and social. It is designed to give children the opportunity to explore and experiment with different materials and activities.

A wide range of rich resources are provided so children can make their own decisions as to what they will make or do. This encourages development of problem solving skills, ordering and sorting, responsibility for outcome and independence. All these are vital factors in your child's education.
There are set times where we come together for group activities i.e. morning tea, music, sharing time and mat time.

Teachers:

Our teachers plan programmes around the emergent curriculum that involve all children and incorporate language, math and pre reading skills. Photos are taken to document children’s learning and although these remain the property of the centre, you will receive copies in your child’s portfolio. They may also be used for promotional material.

The correct teacher/child ratio will be maintained at all times in order to provide quality education.

SETTLING IN

A visit beforehand will help your child to become accustomed to new surroundings and people. Settling in often takes time. Teachers will be available to discuss your needs and those of your child. Communication between parent and teachers is important in establishing good relationships, trust and to avoid any "communication problems" Please note children may not be enrolled at another early childhood centre for the same hours of attendance.

Please keep us up to date about:

Anything that is upsetting your child.
Any health / behaviour / eating problems.
Changes at home.
Emergency contacts. These are essential as unforeseen circumstances do arise.
Parents / Guardians will always be contacted first.

HEALTH AND MEDICINE

We are unable to care for sick children and any illness may affect other users of the centre. In particular, if your child is displaying any of the symptoms listed below we ask you as parents not to bring your child to the centre.

Vomiting or diarrhoea within 12 hours of attending childcare.
Fever or temperature
Conjunctivitis or discharge from the eyes
Discharge from the ears
Earache
Spots, open sores.
Contagious illness, unless cleared by a Doctor or contagious period has expired.
If your child requires medication whilst in our care, you are required to sign the medication chart. All medicines must be clearly named, labelled and handed to a staff member. Do not leave medicine in your child’s bag.

An Immunisation Register is kept at the centre, please update this as your child has their immunisations.
Please contact us before 8.30am if your child is unable to attend.

DELIVERING YOUR CHILD TO THE CENTRE

Please use the car park provided. It is a Ministry of Education requirement to sign your child in and out each day.

MEALS

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided, and drinks are available at all times. Menus will also be displayed.. Parents are to provide formula made up in named bottles.
Please let us know if your child is allergic to any food or products.

CLOTHING

Practical clothing is best as children get dirty. Aprons are provided for messy activities and water play. Please bring a spare set of clothing each day in case of accidents. Most children are happier in their own clothes if a change is necessary. Named clothing is a big help to staff and stops things ending up in the lost property box. Please provide disposable nappies for your child if needed.

SLEEPS

If your child requires a sleep during the day, individual mattresses are provided with a clean sheet, pillow and cover. This bedding is kept separate for your child and washed weekly. Children’s sleeps are recorded daily for your information.

EXCURSIONS

Children are not taken on excursions from Next Generation Childcare Ltd. For most children the excursion is to the centre and parents are the best people to provide outside activities.

FEES

Fees are to be paid one week in advance. They may be paid by cash, cheque or automatic payment. Please ask the supervisor for the centres bank account number. Work and Income forms and information is available from the centre. Full fees are to be paid until the subsidy begins and parents remain responsible for WINZ payments.
